THE ENTREPRENEURIAL BANK

We are Responsive, Creative, Street smart, financial growth hunters who give individuals and owners of small-to-medium sized businesses confidence in their possibilities.

Our communities need banks that can do more for local people and business owners

Small businesses drive local job growth and investment. They are the engine of prosperity. They also need various types of support to survive and thrive. Their size and unique circumstances make it difficult for large banks to focus on them and offer the types of products and advice they need. Blue Sky Bank sees this as the ultimate opportunity to do what even these banks cannot do. Our customers will work with us to make a lasting, local impact.

Our competitive advantage is that we are entrepreneurs first, bankers second. This changes everything about how we work with you.

Our team spends most of its days in the trenches helping individuals and local business owners take new steps. Instead of stock answers and rigid cookie-cutter solutions from big bank ivory towers, our bankers are entrepreneurs who immerse themselves in the details and details of small businesses every day. We ask a lot of questions so our answers and options are always tailored just for you. We will have new ideas for you that will make a difference in what is possible.

When was the last time you decided to call your banker first?

This is how we measure what we do. Most people see banks as something they use after thinking about what to do next. Our customers see us as the first people they want to talk to when they have a simple question or an emerging idea.

We are not desk people. We are on the ground, problem solvers on your behalf.

Our skills don’t come from sitting behind a desk. We are there to continuously learn, advise and solve problems with our customers in many different industries. Growing businesses is both challenging and exciting. Banks often sit on the sidelines before and after providing loans—we’re always in the field as day-to-day financial decisions make or break the outcome.

We don’t expect you to switch banks, just start a conversation. No strings attached.

You already have a bank. Maybe one that isn’t too involved. You never thought a bank could be more than a bank. They are more of a necessary nuisance than any valuable resource.

.

There is no pressure to speak with us and never a sales pitch. We dive right into your challenges and opportunities and you’ll quickly see the difference our approach makes.

.

If you decide to open an account, regardless of size, it lets us get even closer. In many cases, you will be able to secure a line of credit with us. You should have more than one if possible.

A bank was established 115 years ago. On a mission to build our communities for the next 100 at a time.

YOUR SECURITY IS OUR PRIORITY

Keeping track of your business’s financial information isn’t just important to Blue Sky Bank – it’s absolutely essential.

Cash Management uses the highest security standards in the industry, allowing you to manage your business banking in an easy, secure way. Safety features include:

Advanced encryption

  • Sophisticated encryption methods allow reliable, safe and secure transmission of your business’ most sensitive data.

Multi-factor authentication

Layered security requires users to prove their identity using multiple authentication methods, which provides several barriers against fraud.

Dual control

  • This feature reduces the risk of fraud by requiring two people to complete a wire transfer or ACH batch transaction. Dual control prevents a single user from creating or initiating an ACH batch transaction or wire transfer. A user is able to perform the same action, but not both in the same transaction.
  • Dual control also reduces the chance of errors because it requires another user to review any ACH transaction or wire transfer before it is authenticated. Multiple users can be authorized to approve transactions.

Time restrict

  • This feature allows administrators to limit the days and time frame of access to the online banking portal. This additional security layer prevents access outside of scheduled business hours. Different time constraints can be customized and assigned to specific users.

IP restrict

  • Access to accounts may be restricted to specific IP addresses, such as addresses associated with your business computers. This prevents anyone outside the IP network from accessing the online banking tool.
  • Contact us to learn more about our additional layered security options.

Wire transfers

Wire transfers are electronic transfers of money. They are safe, reliable and fast. When you need to send or receive money almost instantly, a wire transfer may be the right option. They allow you to send money quickly and cost-effectively across the country or around the world without sending a check, money order, or cash.

Wire transfer is also one of the safest ways to transfer money. These can be particularly beneficial to businesses because once a wire payment is received in a business account, that business can be certain that the payment has been deposited and cannot be canceled or recalled. . Unlike checks, wire transfers do not take several days to clear. A check may appear to have been deposited and cleared, but if a check is improperly issued or presented, funds may be returned to the check depositor. There is also the risk of check fraud, or a check “bouncing” due to insufficient funds.

With a wire transfer, the sender must have actual funds in their account to initiate the wire transfer. That way, when the wire is received, the recipient can be sure that the funds have actually been deposited into his account.

Blue Sky Bank originates and accepts both domestic and international wire transfers. This can be done online and at any branch location.

Wire Transfer Fees:

  • Incoming Wire Domestic – $5
  • Outgoing Wire Domestic – $17
  • Incoming Wire International – $35
  • Outgoing Wire International – $50

Contact us or stop by one of our branch locations for a complete price list of all products and services.

Any wire transfer instructions received after these cut-off times will be processed on the next business day.

Blue Sky Bank Stops Check Fraud Attack for Tulsa Small Business

When someone called Bevin’s company, a Blue Sky Bank employee stopped him as he allegedly tried to cash a fake check. Bevin’s Company now uses the bank’s fraud protection tools for Blue Sky’s complete protection.

Bevins Co. When she first encountered check fraud, HR/Office Manager Heather Bevins thought it was a fluke.

“It probably won’t happen again,” Heather thought at the time.

But then someone tried to cash a bogus check a second time, and Heather knew it was time to get some protection.

“When it happens again, you’re like, ‘Yeah, I better do something to protect us,’ because unfortunately, fraud is becoming a bigger and bigger problem,” Heather explains.

Someone sent Bevins Co. from their mailbox. had stolen the checks, she says, by erasing the name on one, adding her own, and trying to cash it.

But the alleged fraudster did not trust Blue Sky Bank as he knew his client Bevans Company very well. Having done business together for more than a decade, the bank is intimately familiar with the electric appliance maker’s business operations and cash flows.

Blue Sky Bank knew something was wrong when they encountered a man trying to cash a bogus check.

“Taylor captured it and I was so impressed,” Heather explains. “He just thought it was off because he’d seen enough checks.”

Bevins Co. gets serious about fraud protection

After this incident, Heather knew she couldn’t just rely on other people to detect fraud for her business.

He decided to sign up for Blue Sky Bank’s positive pay feature. Basically, it’s a way to prevent fraud in small businesses by double-checking and approving each check transaction with the bank to ensure that no fraud occurs. Do not slip from curd.

This feature is ideal for businesses that do a lot of business by checks, such as paying freelancers and contractors.

“It’s an extra step, but what’s the security worth to you?” says Heather, who explains that it takes ten minutes a day to complete. “To save yourself, you have to take time out.”

A community bank approach with advanced fraud prevention features

Heather says she believes a large bank like Blue Sky Bank would not have caught the check fraud.

“I have never experienced this at any other bank,” she says.

Heather explains that it is the combination of a community bank approach that offers familiarity, expertise and personal service with innovative security features that makes Blue Sky Bank an excellent business banking partner.

Blue Sky Bank works diligently to provide small businesses with fraud detection and personalized banking solutions that big bank alternatives cannot. Blue Sky Banks focuses on building relationships with their clients, making small business fraud an easy thing to catch and prevent in the future.

“Just because you have a small personal banking doesn’t mean they don’t work like a big bank,” she says. “You still get all the features, you still get everything you get from a big bank with the stamp of a small bank.”

Blue Sky Bank prevents fraud for local feed manufacturer

Ahrberg Milling Co. saw a significant difference in the advanced technology Blue Sky Bank offers compared to other banks they have worked with, especially fraud prevention features for their growing family business.

Agriculture is in the Ahrberg family’s DNA.

“I grew up in the business cleaning floors,” said Rick Ahrberg, now president of the family business, Ahlberg Milling. “It was kind of around my whole life and I would listen to my dad talk about the day at the dinner table.”

Ahrberg Milling built its first mill in 1967 in Cushing, Oklahoma. The company has been manufacturing and distributing livestock feed to stores and ranchers across the state for more than 50 years. They specialize in producing certified organic pellets that vary in protein, fiber, fat, and moisture for feeding horses, cattle, pigs, and poultry.

Ahrberg first partnered with Bank of Cushing when the business was first founded, remaining with them until Bank of Cushing was acquired by Blue Sky Bank a few years ago.

Rick, who took over the company from his father Bill in 2002, says that not only has it been a smooth transition from Bank of Cushing to Blue Sky Bank, but he is now able to enjoy more advanced features the bank has to offer. Were

‘We collect our accounts faster and so the cash flow is better.’

Many people believe the myth that small banks don’t have the technology that big banks do, but that’s not the case for Blue Sky Bank.

With Blue Sky Bank’s services and features like online banking and ACH, the business has been able to speed up its accounts payable and receivable processes, Rick says.

“We turn over our cash faster and we collect our accounts faster and so the cash flow is better,” Rick says. “And we like cash flow.”

‘It’s nice to be with someone who thrives on modern technology

Not only does Blue Sky Bank’s advanced features help Ahrberg Milling run more smoothly, but it has caught and saved the business from check fraud.

After discovering an instance of check fraud in their business account, Blue Sky Bank stepped in and taught Ehrberg Milling how to use the Check Positive Pay feature. The service allows Ahrberg Milling to continue printing its checks in the office, but now the checks are equipped with a unique QR code that Blue Sky Bank scans to match each check and prevent further fraud in its account. .

This isn’t the first time Ahrberg Milling has dealt with fraud, but now, it works with a bank that proactively prevents fraud from occurring.

“We had a similar incident before with Blue Sky and they didn’t have this solution,” explains Rick. “It’s great to be with someone who thrives on modern technology.”

A family legacy

Rick knew from watching his father run Ehrberg Milling how much an effective banking partner can improve business operations. Now, he has seen it for the first time.

It’s one of the many lessons he’ll be passing on to his two sons as they continue their grandfather’s legacy and begin working in the family business.

“If everything works out, there’s no other experience like it, working with some of my family,” Rick says. “That would be a great thing.”

Oilfield equipment supplier strikes big with Blue Sky Bank

Fechner Pump & Supply is busier than ever supplying parts to Oklahoma’s oil fields and doesn’t have time to wade through the banking and loan process—which is why it’s excited to partner with Blue Sky Bank. Feel lucky.

Once your derrick strikes oil, Fichner Pump & Supply springs into action to provide every single part you’ll need to tap the well and get the oil flowing. They have proudly served the oil and gas industry for nearly 40 years since opening their first store in 1982.

The Feckners say service is what separates their supply store from its competitors. Their fleet of delivery trucks provides fast onsite delivery 24 hours a day, so their customers never have to wait for parts. While they’re working hard to help complete the well — they needed a banker who could work alongside their crazy hours.

When they first opened their shop, they partnered with a small, local bank called the Bank of Cushing. The Bank of Cushing was subsequently acquired by Blue Sky Bank in 2018, and the connection Fechner built with them over the decades proved to be long-lasting and personal.

‘They make everyone feel like a priority’

Sean Fechner, son of company owner John Fechner, has worked with Blue Sky Bank since the acquisition and immediately saw the impact the bank would make on his father’s small business.

“I really want every bank to be like Blue Sky in many respects…they’re looking out for you – going the extra mile. They make every person feel like a priority.” Sean even decided to open a personal account with Blue Sky — a move away from the mega-bank he was used to.

“Although most of [my] belongings have ended up in another bank, I went ahead and opened an account here, just because I want to have some money in this bank.”

‘The service is very personalized’

When Fechner Pump & Supply needed to apply for their first and second round of PPP loans, Sean saw firsthand how dedicated Blue Sky was to helping them through the process. Their banker also worked through the weekend to provide loan information and complete their applications.

“They were very important and very attentive to take care of this request.”

During a difficult and confusing time, Sean appreciated the dedication to respond to his requests so quickly. The personal touch was not noticed.

“Their service is very personalized. You walk in the door, they know your name.”

San Antonio Soccer Club finds a partner in Blue Sky Bank

Classics Elite Soccer Academy President Marcos Barros recently opened a business account with Blue Sky Bank — and is already so impressed, he’s recommended the experience to nearly every San Antonio business owner he knows.

It’s no secret soccer is a big deal in San Antonio, and it’s no secret Classic Elite Soccer Academy is a big deal in competitive youth soccer.

The only soccer club with its own facility in San Antonio, Classic Elite Soccer Academy was founded in 2004 by merging an all-female soccer club and an all-male soccer club in this premier co-ed competitive league.

“We’re the only club that has the best college coaches, from high school,” explains president Marco Barros. “It’s grown, we have close to 800 families with diverse backgrounds, boys, girls.”

Barros has worked with several banks over the years as Classics Elite Soccer Academy has grown, most of them large mega banks and regional banks.

‘Banks have completely lost touch with reality’

It wasn’t until Beros recently started working with Blue Sky Bank’s San Antonio market president, Lydia Gonzales, that he realized banks should and should have a personal touch.

“One of the things that really struck me about [Lydia] and the bank was the personal touch,” Barros says. “I have to tell you, Banks is completely out of touch with reality. Everything is automated. You never get to talk to anyone, a live person, a real person, but Lydia is always there. .

Barros opened a business banking account with Blue Sky Bank for the Classics Elite Soccer Academy to be used to save for future expenses.

“The goal is to have money there for contingencies and other future improvements,” Barros explained. “What we do is look to the future, the next five years. And I think we’re on the right track.”

‘Find a real person’

Working with Blue Sky Bank, Barros says he has come to appreciate not only the personal touch but also the responsiveness of a good banker.

He says Blue Sky Bank understands that small business owners don’t have much time to waste and need answers right away.

“You can find a real person who can open the door and have a cup of coffee with you,” Barros says. “And to me that’s what I want from a bank, is a personal relationship, but someone who’s on the other end of the line, who can answer the question. And one thing that’s been very impressive is that they Returns calls within hours.

‘Someone very dedicated, 24/7’

Barros is well-connected in the San Antonio business community, as he also works as a business consultant outside of his role at Classic Elite Soccer Academy.

He says his experience with Lydia and Blue Sky Bank has led him to recommend Blue Sky to friends and colleagues. Indeed, several of Beerus’ business partners have opened accounts with Blue Sky Bank in recent months.

“Lydia is very different,” Barros says. “Maybe we’re talking about someone who has a lot of knowledge about banking, but you combine that with personal skills and customer service skills. are, and you’re talking to someone who’s very dedicated, 24/7.”

The manufacturer of this custom kitchen trailer found a growth partner in Blue Sky Bank

Cruising kitchens flourished during the pandemic. He has produced his own reality TV show called ‘Built for Business’ which will air soon on Discovery Channel. He grew his business like crazy. And he found a bank to help brainstorm and develop a growth strategy: Blue Sky Bank.

If it needs to be mobile, cruising kitchens can make it. The world’s largest fabricator of custom kitchen trucks and trailers has expanded into mobile offices, command centers, even barbershops.

In other words, Cruising Kitchens can “make anything you can put on a mobile platform,” explains president and CEO Cameron Davis.

On top of growing his business during the pandemic, Davis can now add “TV star and producer” to his list of accomplishments

The Cruising Kitchens team even produced a reality TV series about their work called “Butt for Business”. The show airs on Motor Trend and is its highest rated programme. In fact, the show has gained so much popularity that it will begin airing on the Discovery Channel later this year.

Davis is always looking for ways to grow his business. But until he met Team Blue Sky Bank, he felt like he and the team were doing it alone.

“I’ve worked with three or four other banks and none offer the customer service or commitment that I’ve received from Brian, Barry, and Blue Sky,” says Davis. “It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced with a bank, I’ll be honest with you.”.

‘Blue Sky Bank understands growth’

The difference between Blue Sky Bank and other financial institutions became clear in the way they handled small business customers like Cruising Kitchens during the pandemic, Davis says.

“Blue Sky Bank understands growth,” Davis explains. “While many other banks are reeling from COVID-19 right now, they’re not. They’re taking advantage of that and moving the needle.

Because Blue Sky Bank understands small businesses and how quickly they need to make decisions and take next steps, its teams are designed to work faster than larger banks and be as responsive as possible.

Within a day of receiving the necessary documents, Blue Sky Bank approved the business loan application, Davis says.

“It’s just, it’s crazy how they work,” he says.

Do you consult your bankers weekly?

Davis says he regularly consults with Blue Sky Bank on different ideas and growing cruising kitchen opportunities.

“I talk to Brian or Barry maybe once a week now,” he explains, “just because we’re working together on growth strategies.”

Davis found Blue Sky Bank just in time, he explains, because one of Cruising Kitchens’ customers has a big question: Build 3,000 trailers over a three-year period.

This required Cruising Kitchens to acquire new capital by purchasing another manufacturing facility, its largest to date – at least 200,000 square feet. That level of growth requires a close relationship with a local bank that can get things done quickly, Davis says.

“When you have a bank that you feel confident in, you feel better about growth,” he explains. “It takes a lot of money to grow and if you don’t have that backing and somebody who believes in you, it’s just, it’s scary.”

Work with a ‘true banker’ in Blue Sky Bank

Davis wasn’t the only one unhappy with his other banks.

He explains that many of his friends are entrepreneurs whose businesses were affected by COVID-19. He recommends Blue Sky Bank to each of them.

“They’re not getting the response they want from their bank,” Davis says. “I just told them if you want someone who you feel you can really talk to and is a real banker, go to Blue Sky because they’re on hand, they are quick, and they follow through with everything they say they’re going to do.

Davis has only one regret about his relationship with Blue Sky Bank: not discovering them sooner.

“At the time we were very young, [you worked with] any bank that would give you money because you never thought you’d be at a point where a bank would fund you,” Davis explains. are “I wish I knew Blue Sky 10, 11 years ago.”

With a variety of loan products and financing options available, Blue Sky Bank is all about helping businesses grow. If you’re a business owner who wants a real banker with whom you can discuss growth strategies, contact us today.

The megabank of this Claremore robotic tech company left them feeling unappreciated

Andy and Sarah Fegner, owners of Rye Design in Claymore, weren’t looking for a loan. They just wanted to build a relationship with a bank that would listen. Their mega bank won’t even take an appointment with them. Blue Sky Bank knocked on their door, and the rest of their relationship is history.

Andy and Sarah Fegner were looking for a relationship – a banking relationship.

A husband-wife mechanical engineer team founded Rye Design in 2013, a custom automation equipment manufacturer and integrator. They help companies automate their manufacturing processes as well as meet any control system and robotics needs.

In other words, the pair design and build robots for a living.

“We bootstrapped everything,” Sarah explains, meaning they built the business from the ground up without any financing. “And then, two years ago, we said, ‘This is where we want to go, the direction we want to go.’

A key part of that direction, Andy and Sarah explain, was finding a large place to buy in Claymore, not rent. But the big bank they were working with couldn’t be less interested.

“We came from a big bank that never gave us the time of day,” says Andy.

“They didn’t take us seriously,” Sarah added. “We didn’t meet them. They never checked on us or anything. They didn’t really care that we were here.

The need for a meaningful business banking relationship

Andy and Sarah say they chose their first bank, a megabank, out of convenience. They had always banked there, and already had a home loan there.

However, it quickly became clear that this large bank would not work for their small business needs.

“I don’t think you realize the need for a relationship with a bank until you’re in business,” And says, “and you’re like, ‘I need capital, I need to negotiate. I need to be able to tell someone that this is what I’m doing, and explain to them. It’s just a whole different level. So we definitely knew pretty early on that wasn’t going to happen with our current bank. Was

Fiegener’s megabank won’t even meet them – look at their finances or hear their ideas for the future of their business.

When they could get someone to talk to them at the bank, Andy and Sarah felt as if those limited interactions were welcome.

“It was always like, ‘Oh, look at Andy and Sarah. They’re so cute. They’re trying to make it,'” Andy explains.

This dissatisfaction with the big banks is nothing new.

According to a 2018 JD Power study, nearly 63 percent of small business owners say they don’t feel their banks value their business.

Even worse, 72 percent of small business owners don’t feel their bank specializes in small business banking.

Andy and Sarah needed a bank that wanted to be their bank and that appreciated them as small business owners.

“We’re small and we’re hungry,” Andy says. “And I think, when you’re with a big bank, they don’t want to bring in new customers. That might be nice, but really what they’re targeting are more established companies. We There’s no incentive for them to help companies like that.”

The difference Blue Sky Bank makes to small business owners.

Blue Sky Bank lender Ryan McDaniel didn’t know Andy and Sarah were looking for a new banking relationship when he approached them, but he introduced himself at the perfect time.

Ryan took the time to visit the Rye Design space in Claremore. He sat down with Andy and Sarah, reviewed their finances, and learned about Rye Design’s future plans.

It was exactly the kind of relationship that Andy and Sarah were looking for.

“It’s hard for a big bank to talk to someone who can make a decision, or who has the attention to help you and plead your case,” says Sarah. “And with Ryan, that’s not a problem.”

Blue Sky Bank goes beyond what you think a bank can do for you

When the ideal property was purchased for Andy and Sarah, they needed to act fast.

Thankfully, Blue Sky Bank responded quickly.

“We called Ryan and said, ‘Hey, can we do this?’ And he said, “Are you still where you were a few months ago?” Andy explains.

It was so easy, because Ryan had already formed a relationship with Andy and Sarah.

“[Ryan] had already spent some time with us and understood where we were as a business and how we operated,” Sarah says. “So we didn’t have to prove it all to him, because he already knew it all.”

But Blue Sky Bank didn’t stop at just approving commercial real estate loans.

Ryan checks with his contacts who work in commercial real estate to make sure Andy and Sarah are getting a good price for the property. He even recommended a contractor.

“[Ryan] helped us make that decision. We were struggling, trying to get information to make that decision, and he helped a lot,” Andy says. “It was great.”

Why a local brewery ditched its old bank for Blue Sky Bank

When it came time to expand and upgrade Tulsa brewery Dead Armadillo, its existing megabank was radio silent. He needed a bank that would actually value his business and share his excitement about future developments. That’s why he turned to Blue Sky Bank for a brewery loan and never looked back.

Dead Armadillo Craft Brewing’s “Boneyard” is the perfect place to socialize with friends over a craft beer.

The brewery’s outdoor beer garden is a small patio oasis just outside of downtown Tulsa, lined with picnic tables and equipped with an outdoor bar.

The bone yard is just one of the many projects Dead Armadillo has undertaken to grow his business since becoming a Blue Sky Bank customer in 2016.

“We’ve upgraded our brewery equipment, our tillers and our brewing systems, our boilers, everything that makes a brewery work,” explains Tony Peck, co-founder and managing partner of Dead Armadillo Craft Brewing. “We tripled the size of our bev house. It was all through Blue Sky.

Most small business owners don’t appreciate their bank

Dead Armadillo was originally working with another bank when it launched in 2013.

But when it came time to upgrade the brewery’s canning line, which required financing for the brewery’s equipment, Peck says the bank gave him the cold shoulder.

“That other bank didn’t really seem like they were interested in working with small businesses at the time,” Peck says. “It was really weird. We were doing better than ever and you would have thought they would have jumped on it, but they weren’t really interested in helping us. It was surprising.”

Pack and Dead Armadillo weren’t alone in feeling neglected by their original bank.

According to a 2018 JD Power study, nearly 63 percent of small business owners feel their bank doesn’t value their business.

Peck’s negative experience with his first bank made him feel uncertain about his business plans.

“It felt so bad,” Peck said. “I mean, it made me a little worried. It made me question, ‘Am I wrong? Are we not doing so well? Am I just clueless?’ And I don’t know what [that bank’s] deal was, but Blue Sky Bank jumped on it.

Working with Blue Sky Bank ‘felt like a partnership’

Pack says Dead Armadillo’s experience with Blue Sky Bank was night and day.

He could tell from his first conversation with Blue Sky Bank lender Ryan McDaniel that it was a bank built to serve small business owners like himself.

“They were really interested in partnering with us like a real partner,” Pack says of Blue Sky Bank. “They were interested in investing in our growth potential, basically in our future.” used to invest, which is really great. Other people were just like, “Yeah, it’s money and we’re going to charge you for it. With Blue Sky, it felt like a partnership.”

Thanks to Ryan and Blue Sky Bank, Dead Armadillo staff were right at the front of the line for Payroll Protection Program (PPP) funds.

This money allowed Pack’s staff to continue operating despite the pandemic’s impact on business.

“We had money in our bank and other people were still confused about [the PPP], posting about the funds being lost,” says Peck. “I think we were just on top of him. Ryan was on top of him.

Although the brewery couldn’t serve customers at the time, Peck and his staff took advantage of the extra time and available funds to work on a new project—tripling the size of the taproom to comfortably serve more customers. .

If it’s not working for you, don’t stick with your first bank

Dead Armadillo is riding the wave of popularity thanks to its Tulsa flagship beer, and it has no plans to slow down.

In fact, it plans to begin distributing Tulsa Flag Beer in Kansas soon.

Growing his business this fast, Peck says, might not have been possible if he had stuck with the original bank.

“The reason banks are out there is to give money, but there are aspects of customer service that are very important, especially for small businesses,” explains Peck.

What he needed was a bank that actually wanted to serve small business owners, and a skilled team of lenders to do it well.

At Blue Sky Bank, Peck found all this and more. Peck says Blue Sky Bank shares his passion to serve and be a part of the Tulsa business community.

“They’re built for local people, which is great,” he explains. “And that’s what we thrive on. We’re a local brewer. We really rely on that local vibe to bring people in and support us. So it’s a small bank, but it Is local and we just got along so well. They seem to be designed for small businesses.

Blue Sky Bank helps Tulsa’s manufacturers stay innovative

Tri-States Sales Inc., a fastener manufacturer based in Clearmore, Okla., has grown from two employees to nearly 30. Over the past 20 years, they’ve bought buildings, acquired another company, and even added a robot. CEO Brian Plummer says Blue Sky Bank has, and always will, position his company at the forefront of growth.

Brian Plummer proudly employs 28 humans and one robot.

His company, Tri-State Sales, Inc., began as a fastener distributor selling nuts, bolts, and screws. In 2008, he turned the business into a custom manufacturer of specialty fasteners, valves, “whatever anybody wants to give us,” Brian says.

Brian has worked with lender Chris Wilson since 1997, following him from bank to bank.

“[Chris] has taken care of us over the years,” Brian explains.

But when Chris brought Tri-States Sales to Blue Sky Bank, Brian noticed a difference – the bank was more flexible than others he worked with.

“At Blue Sky, they allowed Chris to do more and help us more, keep us growing,” says Brian.

Brian now works with creditor Barry Gibson in addition to Chris. The Blue Sky Bank team worked closely with Tri-States Sales to secure the funding necessary as the company transitioned into manufacturing. They worked together on several commercial real estate loans, first in 2006 when Tri-States Sales bought its first building, and then another three years later.

Tri-States Sales also worked with Blue Sky Bank on a business acquisition loan in 2014, when the company bought another company, Tulsa Industrial Products, to expand its offerings.

“They stayed with us and built it for us,” Brian says of Blue Sky Bank’s role in his company’s growth.

But it was a recent equipment financing loan from Blue Sky Bank that Brian says caught the attention of all Oklahomans.

Tri-State Sales was able to purchase advanced machinery – essentially, a pair of two CNC machines operated by a robot.

As the robots and machinery arrive, both Chris and Barry from the Blue Sky Bank come out to Claymore’s facility to see him.

“We demonstrated it,” says Brian. “We’ve had several customers come from all over and see how it works. Surprisingly, Oklahoma doesn’t have that much robotic [manufacturing technology].

Tri-States Sales will celebrate 23 years in business in May 2020. They are growing rapidly from distribution and supply in robotic manufacturing. The company has relied on its lending team at Blue Sky Bank for every phase of business development. The difference, says Brian, is Blue Sky Bank’s can-do attitude for entrepreneurs.

Tri-State Sales has no plans to stay in the future.

Brian says the company will continue to look for the latest tools and the latest machines, knowing Blue Sky Bank will help them stay at the forefront of technology offerings with small business loans.

The manufacturing side also benefits the company’s core focus, the nuts and bolts business.

“These are two different aspects that we can help clients with,” says Brian. “We take pride in everything we do.”

Do you want to work with a lending team that keeps you on the cutting edge with the latest technology in your industry?

“When we bring them an idea, they ask a question, we explain it, and then they make it happen,” Brian explains. “They just make things for us. They take the stress out of it.”

CoVID-19 stories: “We’ve grown accustomed to the blue Skybank that takes care of us.”

Brian Plummer has a staff of 28 at his fastener manufacturing company, Tri-States Sales. He says trying to continue normal operations during this global pandemic has been one of the hardest things his business has ever faced. But for commercial loan holders like Brian, Blue Sky Bank’s plan to defer principal loan payments has made a huge difference in keeping day-to-day operations going.

Brian Plummer and his Blue Sky Bank lender took all health and safety precautions before meeting in person one evening after work.

“We kept everyone healthy,” Brian assured.

Brian, owner of Tri-States Sales in Claymore, Okla., had completed paperwork to apply for COVID-19 relief through the Small Business Administration.

As soon as her SBA loan application was completed, she called her banker, Barry Gibson. They met immediately.

“Barry met us halfway – we’re in Claymore, he’s in Verdigris,” Brian explains. “It was after 5 o’clock. It wasn’t even working hours.”

But the fact that his banker went out of his way to meet after hours and collect the paperwork from him wasn’t surprising to Brian. In fact, Brian says he is in constant contact with the bank. Everyone has gone out of their way to help him and his company.

A few weeks ago, he received a personal phone call from Chris Wilson, Chief Credit Officer and President of Blue Sky Bank, informing him that the bank was closing due to financial difficulties caused by COVID-19. will defer the principal repayment of the loan.

“Chris called and said, ‘Hey, this COVID-19 stuff is going to be bad. We just want you guys to know that whatever happens down the road, we’re here for you,'” Brian said. “We didn’t have to reach out — they called us,” he says.

This meant a lot to Brian, who has built his fastener manufacturing company from the ground up since the nineties. It began as a distribution and supply company, then expanded into custom manufacturing a decade ago.

Over the years, Brian has worked with Blue Sky Bank to obtain the small business loans necessary to purchase several buildings, purchase new machinery, and even acquire another company.

Blue Sky Bank has helped grow Tri-State Sales from just two employees to a full staff of 28, Brian explained, guiding it through every stage of growth.

So while the bank’s core loan deferment program for business customers was well-received and a welcome relief, it was not surprising.

“We just got used to them just taking care of us,” Brian says.

The three-state outlet still continues with normal operations, running two shifts of 20 hours a day – while taking precautions to adhere to safety and health regulations.

The company didn’t feel the full force of the impact of COVID-19 as some businesses did, thanks to Blue Sky Bank’s small business loan deferment plan.

“This will help keep our day-to-day business in line, continuing to work with our customers as if nothing happened,” explains Brian. “This will help keep everything in the same volume.”

Brian says it’s an uncertain and scary time for business owners, but his relationship with Blue Sky Bank has helped him stay calm and reassured.

“Like everybody else, we don’t know what’s going on,” he says. “But it’s a huge relief, just knowing that [Blue Sky Bank] is going to help you no matter what comes down the road. That’s what we’re used to knowing from them.”

Covid-19 stories: Blue Sky Bank is doing what it can to help small businesses stay open

When Dr. Sean Riley, owner of Tulsa Spine and Rehab, received a call from a lender at Blue Sky Bank informing him that the bank was deferring principal payments for all commercial loan customers in light of COVID-19. So they were relieved. ‘I can’t tell you how it made me feel. It really healed me.”

Tulsa Spine and Rehab is currently open and seeing patients, but in a way that looks very different from “normal” operations.

A multidisciplinary chiropractic rehabilitation facility, Tulsa Spine and Rehab offers everything from physical therapy to yoga to acupuncture. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the clinic has scheduled patients in a way that limits the number of people in the clinic at one time and allows appointments to be more staffed as needed based on CDC guidelines. Cleaning can be allowed as per

“Our motto here is, ‘Keep moving.’ We want our patients to keep moving,” explains Dr. Sean Riley, owner of Tulsa Spine & Rehab. “We’re here to do what we can for people.”

Dr. Riley is committed to keeping his clinic focused on patient care. He says it’s been tough in such an uncertain and unpredictable landscape, but Blue Sky Bank has gifted him and other Oklahoma business owners with some relief.

Dr. Riley received a call from lender Barry Gibson in mid-March, telling him that Blue Sky Bank was offering basic loans to all business loan customers to help mitigate the impact of the coronavirus on businesses. Will delay the repayment of the loan.

Dr Riley is one of about 1,200 Blue Sky Bank commercial loan customers who will benefit from the initiative.

“They’re doing everything they can to help small businesses stay open, and I think that speaks volumes about the type of bank they are,” Dr. Riley says. “He was one of the first to say, ‘Here are some ideas that we have to give you a little more working capital over the next few months. Let’s defer some of these loan payments, let’s go with you. Do a little work.

The loan deferment initiative is just the latest indication of Blue Sky Bank’s commitment to serving Tulsa area business owners.

Since she started working with Blue Sky Bank in 2012, Dr. Riley says she’s noticed this kind of homey, personal support.

Over the years, Dr. Riley has worked with Blue Sky Bank to obtain a variety of business loans, such as business lines of credit, and most recently, a business equipment loan.

As he has expanded his business to expand his range of services and patient care practices, Dr. Reilly has relied on Blue Sky Bank each time to inform him of his options.

“I feel like they’re always looking out for me,” he explains. “It’s always nice when someone is looking out for you — especially as a business owner, because normally we’re an island, we’re on our own, we’re making tough decisions every day.”

Dr. Riley says he hopes to explore opportunities to open more clinics in Oklahoma City and Broken Arrow in the future.

Until then, he will focus on taking care of his patients as well as his staff, and maintaining the business he has built from the ground up.

“We’ll continue to evolve it, just as the bank is evolving,” says Dr. Riley. “It’s a moving target. Every day is a different day.”

Why did a Tulsa business owner move all his accounts from ‘Mega Bank’ to Blue Sky Bank?

Maggie Fox, owner of Fox Cleaners, was determined to build her late husband’s dry cleaning business into a new brand that would appeal to a younger crowd. He needed a bank that would support his vision and finance the necessary upgrades. At Blue Sky Bank, he found a whole team of neighbors, friends and supporters instead.

Maggie Fox is a fan of keeping it all in the neighborhood.

Standing in the parking lot of the Fox Cleaners location at 41st and Harvard, you can see the downtown location of Blue Sky Bank.

Being able to bank with her neighbors has been incredibly convenient, but Maggie says that more importantly, she has developed relationships with the Blue Sky Bank team.

“We come into [the bank] and the girls know our name,” Maggie says. “You know, we come through the drive-thru and they know our names. It’s always the same people. I love it because that’s what we do here.

Maggie started working with Blue Sky Bank in 2016, when she bought Fox Cleaners from her business partner.

It wasn’t just a business decision. It was a personal one.

Maggie’s late husband Tim built Fox Cleaners from the ground up starting in 1984. After his passing, business declined for several years. She wanted to revive the family business that Tim had envisioned.

Blue Sky Bank offers the kind of service ‘you don’t get from any big bank’.

The first step was to find a bank that would support his vision to rebrand and revamp the Fox Cleaners brand.

“I wanted it to have a new look and feel and Blue Sky certainly helped with that,” explains Maggie. “They helped fund the exercise, which was no small task for me. “

It was important for Maggie to find a bank that was local. She says Blue Sky Bank and lender Ryan McDaniel took the time to fully understand what she wanted to do, and she doesn’t get that personal service from a big bank.

In fact, Maggie says, she moved all business accounts from a major bank in Tulsa to Blue Sky Bank for that reason.

“We really wanted that kind of small-town connection, small-town feel and service that you don’t get from a big bank,” Magee says. “We wanted to have a relationship with a bank that would help us grow our business and achieve our goals. And they’ve done a great job.”

Once she had a new logo and brand for Fox Cleaners, Maggie got to work on improving other aspects of the business.

She explains that the dry cleaning is an old customer. When he bought the business, 80 percent of Fox Cleaner’s clients were 50 years old or older. Maggie wanted to tap into a smaller market of millennials, and knew she would need her bank’s help to make the right changes.

Improving business with financial support from Blue Sky Bank

With a working capital loan and equipment loan from Blue Sky Bank, Maggi remodeled several stores with eco-green products and new equipment. It expanded free pickup and delivery services, upgraded systems for online orders and payments, and began offering wash-and-fold and same-day service.

Maggie says that it was not easy to make so many changes at once. But having the Blue Sky Bank team by her side gave her the support she needed to navigate them.

“It gives me a lot of confidence to know that someone has my back,” says Maggie. “They want us to succeed.”

Fox Cleaners has five locations in the Tulsa metro area:

  • MIDTOWN TULSA: 4102 S Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK 74135
  • MIDTOWN TULSA: 6049 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa, OK 74136
  • Downtown Tulsa: 1732 S. Boston Ave., Tulsa, OK 74119
  • South Tulsa: 6508 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133
  • JENKS: 12141 S Elm St, Ste 119, Jenks, OK 74037

Magee says it plans to open more stores and acquire the building that houses the dry cleaning stores. She knows that whenever she has questions about financing her business or expanding existing operations with a business acquisition loan, the Blue Sky Bank team and lender Ryan McDaniel are right down the road and always available to chat. are ready for

How Blue Sky Bank innovates for business customers

When was the last time your bank used its ‘imagination’ to develop a business loan option for you? Business owner Whitney Esliker says that’s exactly what Blue Sky Bank has done for her store, Adorn.

When you walk into Adorn, the home and gift store at 3rd & Trenton, you can tell right away that the store is owned by a creative person.

The shop is an explosion of color and joy. That’s exactly what store owner Whitney Esliker envisioned for her business.

“I’ve tried to live colorfully my whole life and now I have a place that’s filled with more sparkle and color than any girl could ever hope for,” Whitney said.

When she first started researching different small business loan options to finance Adorn, Whitney shopped around and met with several other financial institutions before finding Blue Sky Bank. But other banks didn’t seem to care that she shared much less the vision she had for her store.

In addition to the retail store, Adorn also operates as a home design firm. Whitney personally hand-selects each piece of decor with her clients’ taste and vision in mind.

“It was very clinical the way they looked at it,” Whitney said. “It was like, ‘You can offer this, but you can’t offer that, so we can just give you this.’

But Blue Sky Bank was different. Instead of just looking at the financials, lender Ryan McDaniel took the time to understand his vision and find the right solution, he said.

“He really looked at the business idea as a whole, the plan I had put together,” Whitney said. “He had a big picture, and he really used creative thinking to see what would fit our situation.”

Blue Sky Bank has a centuries-old history of serving small and medium-sized business owners

Because it has served the Oklahoma market for more than 110 years, Blue Sky Bank has a deep understanding of the local business landscape. We offer SBA business start-up loans, business lines of credit, short-term loans, and other business financing products that can help you secure your cash flow.

And because we’re small and 100 percent locally owned, our lenders are able to do something for small business owners that other banks really can’t: be creative.

“That bank uses more imagination than many others I’ve encountered,” Whitney said.

“Using imagination” isn’t something you hear about a bank very often. But Blue Sky Bank does exactly that. We are able to create tailored lending options for its customers because our lending team is not constrained by strict financial rubrics like some of the larger banks.

Instead, Blue Sky Bank borrowers are able to spend time learning about business ventures like Whitney’s. They saw him as a Tulsa business owner and valued member of the community – more than just some numbers on paper.

Blue Sky Bank looked at all of Adorn’s business needs, lined them up with the bank’s lending capabilities, and worked to find the pieces that fit together. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to business lending, Blue Sky Bank takes the time to develop customized solutions.

Working with Blue Sky Bank is ‘like working with a partner’

Getting a small business startup loan with Blue Sky Bank and opening Adorn’s doors for business wasn’t the end of Ryan and Whitney’s relationship with Blue Sky Bank. This was the beginning.

“[Ryan] comes into the shop and just checks in to see how things are going,” Whitney said.

She knows she can always pick up the phone and call if he has questions or ideas about financing options to grow his business.

“It’s like working with a partner,” he said. “Anybody in the bank can help you and so it doesn’t feel like a big box like a lot of people do. It’s not stuffy. It’s a welcoming place. It’s warm.”

Adorn is located across from the historic Church Studio and next to Mangos Cuban Cafe. Stop into the store to pick up gifts, holiday decorations, jewelry, or pet the store’s dog, Whitney’s Goldendoodle Dudley.
